POSITION: Group Fitness Instructor
REPORTS TO: Director of Group Fitness
POSITION PURPOSE
Instruct group fitness classes in accordance with CHU class description. Provide an effective group fitness class while encouraging members and guests to reach their personal fitness goals in a safe manner.
TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Some of the duties would consist of the following:
- Arrive on time in order to begin class in accordance with group fitness schedule
- Complete class in accordance with group fitness schedule
- Engage and encourage members and guest before, during, and after class
- Instruct the class as stated in the CHU class descriptions
- Ensure that any equipment is returned to proper place following class
- Correctly complete tracking sheet following class, indicating accurate class participation numbers
- Demonstrate proper technique at all times
- Monitor, encourage, and correct participants during class
- Submit class availability, sub request, time off in accordance with CHU policy
- Be an advocate for CSU and CHU at all times
- Display a professional and enthusiastic attitude at all times
- Maintain all required certifications
QUALIFICATIONS
One or more years’ experience is preferred. Required certifications consist of ACE, ACSM, AFAA or similar certifications. Yoga, Pilates, Zumba & Barre require specialized certifications. Current CPR/First Aid/AED/Blood Borne Pathogens certifications are required for file.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Ability to perform all physical aspects of the position; including leading class, walking, standing, bending, reaching, and lifting.
